During his visit to the opening of the ECC Personal Structures exhibition, where his own artwork is featured, Robert Jahnke led an insightful tour of the New Zealand artworks showcased in the Venice Biennale. The 2024 Biennale marked unprecedented Māori participation, a significant milestone for New Zealand art. Jahnke discussed the award-winning Mataaho Collective, recipients of the Golden Lion for Best Participant, and the sculptural brilliance of Brett Graham alongside his father Fred Graham. He emphasised the important legacy of intergenerational relationships, reflected in an unbroken connection of motifs and references within Māori Art History.
